Indian Spiritual tradition has propounded four Purusharth (objectives) of a human life. These being Dharm (Righteousness), Arth (Material Pursuits), Kaam (Contentment) and Moksh (Enlightenment). Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is believed to grant all the four boons to those who visit Her Holy Shrine. She is considered to fulfill anything and everything that a person wishes for in life, in a righteous way.
The journey to the Holy Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is thus an enchanting journey of the places where Mata Vaishnavi had spent some time while observing various spiritual disciplines and penances. The temple is near the town of Katra, in Jammu district in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of the most revered places of worship in Northern India. The shrine is at an altitude of 5200 feet and a distance of approximately 12 kilometres (7.45 miles) from Katra.
Haridwar

Haridwar located in the foothills of the Shivalik, represents the point where the Ganga reaches the plains. It is famous for being blessed by trinity of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. The name Haridwar (Hardwar) has been derived from two words, 'Har' which means Shiva (the deity of Kedarnath), 'Hari which means Vishnu (the deity of Badrinath), and Dwar which means gate. Haridwar is thus the gateway to the two holy shrines of Shiva and Vishnu in Badrinath and Kedarnath, respectively. Har-ki -Pairi ghat is one of the most sacred Ghats in India as Maha arti is performed on this ghat every evening. Haridwar is famous for its Ganga Aarti that is celebrated at 7 pm each night. Other places to see include Mayapuri and Kankhal, which are near Haridwar. Mansa Devi is a temple located on top of a hill called the Bilwa Parvat.
Rishikesh

43-kms from Dehradun & 24-kms from Haridwar, Rishikesh is situated amidst a calm environment, impressive water front, dense forest and hills. Apart from being known as the land of Gods, Rishikesh, is also the mecca for peace seekers through Yoga & meditation. It is situated in the heart of the old town on the Banks of the Ganges. The Inner sanctum of the temple has the idol of lord Vishnu, carved out of a single Saligram. In the inner canopy above the idol is shree yantra installed by Adi Sankraya Charya. Close to Trivenighat is the most ancient place, the Rishikund. Anciant records relate this to Kubz Saint , who was blessed by the Goddess Yamuna by saturating this pond by its water. The pond reflects the temple of Ragunath, dedicated to lord Rama and his wife. Triveni Ghat is the main ghat in the town area where most of the pilgrims take holy dip and attend the evening Aarti.
Pushkar

Pushkar is an important pilgrimage as well as the venue of a mammoth cattle fair. Bazaars, auctions, music and sports are highlights of this event
Pushkar and Ajmer, sister cities, are only 11 kms apart. Pushkar is famous for its fairs and festivals and for Brahma Temple. It is said that in a battle, Lord Brahma killed the demon Vajra Nabh with a lotus flower whose petals floated down to earth and landed in three places in Pushkar where Lakes sprang up. The bath at Pushkar is thought to be more important than at any other place. The holy dip in this lake on Kartika Purnima is thought to be salvation giving. Pushkar is very dear to Lord Brahma. The place is famous in His name. So it is blessed by Him in every way. In olden times the people who took a holy dip at Pushkar were relieved from all their sins and went to heaven after their death by the grace of Lord Brahma.

Ajmer

Ajmer - a green oasis on the shore of Ana Sagar Lake , is hemmed in by barren hills.
Ajmer is a major center for Muslim pilgrims during the fast of Ramadan.
Held in the memory of the revered Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti, it is an occasion for thousands of believers to congregate at the shrine and offer their prayers. All of Ajmer seems to take on a festive air and several programs are organized to mark the festivals.
Tirupati
Location: Andhra Pradesh
The sacred shrine of Lord Venkateswara or Balaji is situated on top the Tirumala Hills with nature in all its glory, splendour and charm. An aerial view of the seven hills would give one the impression of Adi Sesha with its seven hoods lying majestically. The Lord at Tirupathi is also known as Venkatachalapati, Venkatesa Perumal, Venkataramanamurthi and Edukondalavada (The Lord of Seven Hills). Hundi offering is an important part of the pilgrimage to Tirumala. The collections, running into crores of rupees annually, are utilised for charitable purposes besides for the upkeep of the temple and making of the Laddu Prassadam and other Neivedyams distributed among the lakhs of devotees daily. With crores worth of hundi collections and gold and diamond jewellery used to adorn the idol, the Tirupati temple is the richest in the country.
